Before You Buy More Traffic: 3 Shopify Conversion Checks
If people are reaching your store but purchases are not following, more traffic can amplify the same unresolved friction. Before increasing ad spend or rebuilding the site, isolate what the customer can actually see and do.
1. Does the product page answer the buying decision?
Check the page as a customer, not as the store owner. Can a visitor quickly understand what the product is, who it is for, what it costs, what happens after purchase, and why the offer is credible?
Evidence to inspect: headline clarity, price presentation, product imagery, shipping or delivery expectations, return information, trust signals, and the path to Add to Cart.
2. Do your storefront promises agree with your policies?
A homepage promise and a policy page should not create different expectations. Review shipping, returns, guarantees, discounts, inventory, and delivery claims for contradictions.
Evidence to inspect: announcement bars, product copy, cart messaging, refund policy, shipping policy, and checkout-facing language.
3. Can the customer move cleanly from interest to checkout?
Follow one real path: landing page → product page → cart → checkout. Look for dead links, placeholder content, confusing options, unexpected costs, or anything that forces the shopper to stop and interpret the store.
Evidence to inspect: navigation, product availability, cart behavior, checkout handoff, and whether the same offer remains consistent from page to page.
Turn the check into a decision
A useful conversion review separates observed evidence from interpretation. It should identify what is visible, explain why it may create friction, recommend a bounded action, and define how to verify the change afterward.
